Actually !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Sent someone over last night to take it for a spin. Fired right up after a year. ZERO rust, head gasket is good, tranny doesnt have the band issues. WTF why not?
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Guy said it is a parts car because it has sat for a year. Has typical window/hvac issues. I dont know what I am going to do with it but I couldnt refuse

I don't get how everyone finds such good $500 and under cars. A few friends and I want to do LeMons this year, but finding something in the price range is tough

Congats on your tank purchase!

up in the great north of Maine, people give zero interest to cars like this. Plus really noone works on them. Easy to find good stuff there
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:09 |

that is exactly what it is!
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:11 |

Dude take it to the rallyx on Sunday.
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:13 |

doesnt it have to be plated and insured?
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:13 |
|
So what's your plan for it? Lemons, or just something for shits and giggles?
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:13 |

hell no dude, it's racing not street driving
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:17 |
|
an awful long drive in a car that isnt registered though. If I do make it it is going to be spur of the moment, no time to wrangle up the seirra and trailer
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:17 |
|
damnit, I can't even argue this one
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:17 |
|
I dont know, it is pretty clean. Probably just fix it and drive it around till I get bored, then make a small amount of money on it
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:18 |

If you show up you'll be a legend. I'll be in an oppo sweater, or just look for my car.
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:18 |

hard to argue with something I could scrap for the same money!
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:19 |
|
yea, you know me I'm always arguing for you to get an American Muscle car
but for 350 I might have even bought the damn thing
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:23 |
|
yeah, I am trying to figure out if my Invicta is a muscle car, since it has a 401, even though it is pink and a wagon. Hmmm thoughts? Or is that a post in itself?
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:24 |

Its paint is better than mine. Mine had window/HVAC issues that were cleared up by a replace of the main splitter vacuum solenoid, and window issues that were cleared up by cleaning the switches - all took place in about an afternoon.

is Raph going? Who all is going?
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:27 |

We keep trying to get Raph to respond, but he won't answer us.
Mathios Rios, Aaron Brown, and me so far.
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:28 |

NP!
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:30 |
|
yup, what I am expecting with this one. Those switches are made to come apart (and the vac tees are made to split)
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:32 |
|
I mean it could be.
But I'll answer here.
It depends on how yuo do it. Are you going to muscle it up or keep it cruiser.
At that size, I see it being a cruiser unless you make some...adjustments. Exhaust, fat tires (man it's perfect for tubs in the back because wagon).
It's all about approach for those
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:36 |

I'll tell you, if these goddamn people pushing back on an east/west highway up here would just shut the fuck up and do it, this would be so much easier.
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:38 |
|
lol is that why that way is the fastest?
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:40 |
|
bone stock, probably clear over the patina
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:42 |
|
totally is. It would be 2.5 or less if there was an east west highway for real
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:43 |
|
But apparently we have to keep people from Maine away from the rest of America.
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:44 |
|
probably solid advice
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:46 |
|
Well since you can get a working Mercedes like that for $500 there, clearly no one cares about cars.
![]() 10/29/2014 at 09:51 |
|
cruiser not muscle then

It's the Leafers! Oh my God! They're here!

I prefer the term Bank Vault, thank you.
![]() 10/29/2014 at 11:53 |

Wow, $350! That is pretty irresistible. Nice find!

At the risk of stating the obvious the W124 is a tank and allows you to look at this car and say, "They don't make 'em like they used to".
You got it for next to nothing. I'd say you'd easily be able to part it out and make back your money plus profit, assuming you have a) space to park it, and b) the tools/brains to strip it (I suspect you have both).
Or restore it. Would be a long-term project and might cost you thousands, but if you were willing to spend 5-10k (more if you wanted a repaint) then you'd have one of the Best Cars of All Time.
Then again, its not a diesel, and if you wanted this for a DD, that would be the way to go. It still gets 36-40 MPG.
![]() 10/29/2014 at 12:02 |
|
oh yes, I have the skills and the tools. I am just going to drive as is. I have other mercedes that need more work. Super easy, run it for a while and sell it to make a little money, not much though!
![]() 10/30/2014 at 21:22 |
|
dang. here in SoCal, that car would be $2000.
![]() 11/03/2014 at 15:10 |

After thoroughly reviewing the commentary here, the answer is racecar.
I mean the answer is always racecar, but today the answer is especially racecar.
![]() 11/03/2014 at 15:12 |
|
yeah that may have to be!
![]() 11/03/2014 at 15:13 |
|
Two words: Ignition upgrades.
![]() 11/03/2014 at 15:17 |
|
eh the early CIS-E was pretty damn solid even to adjust the ignition. I would just keep it as is. The worst thing with these is getting the idle mixture right!
![]() 11/03/2014 at 19:48 |
|
Come on, stick a CDI in there... You know you want to.
![]() 11/03/2014 at 20:10 |
|
I need to stick a cdi in my daily driver w210 4matic wagon first!
![]() 11/03/2014 at 20:13 |

Trade you my AEM four channel twin fire for something with programmable timing.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 07:37 |
|
What are you running that on?
![]() 11/04/2014 at 08:55 |
|
The want to buy that car after you is so strong...
![]() 11/04/2014 at 14:48 |
|
Nothing, currently. I will be running it on the Honda if I can't get a programmable timing something before too long, though. It's getting colder and E85 does NOT like the cold.
![]() 11/04/2014 at 14:49 |
|
oh now I remember you had a Honda!
![]() 11/04/2014 at 15:04 |

Yes; I'm still building my post series about it. CRV on Ethanol. I'm actually getting ~20MPG out of it despite what Torque (the app) says. I think I stumbled backwards on a modification, though...I need to get the ignition to stop sucking. Stupid B20Z computers!
